Marianne, I deeply appreciate your diatribe today as it reflects the reality I see in our world too. Also, I relished your sentence: "What has happened as a consequence could have and would have been predicted, by anyone with the slightest knowledge of or respect for history." Indeed, the dumbing down in America over the past several decades is astounding! I wish every kid would be required to read books like, "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn. I read it while living in Austin, Texas, and shed tears over the truth it revealed.
So, as you say, we must step it up if we really care about life! Plus, we must garner physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual strength to forge ahead for better outcomes--we have no other options! We have gone beyond the tipping point for U.S. democracy as well as our sacred Earth too. I'm in to help foster real change for a thrivable planet.
100 percent with you, Marianne! “How fucking dare they?” and all!
I feel like we are being driven collectively - like Howard Beale in “Network” - to fling open our windows and shout: “I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!”
I just donated to ALL of them! ... Very nice writing ... The answer is of course to elect candidates who refuse to take corporate donations ... That's the key! ... That's the only way to stop Big Money and Big Corporate Influences from continuing to control this country ... Thanks again for another great paper!
This is the first time I am posting a comment in this forum, and I want my voice to be heard loud and clear. I applaud Marianne for her courage to express the concern for this country and for “We the People” in any fashion she feels appropriate, and it doesn’t cause me to lose respect for her character or integrity in any way whatsoever. I respect those who might be offended with certain expletives used to communicate one’s frustration with our current situation; however, there are far more important issues that are at stake here. I happen to agree and support a means of communication and freedom of expression that evokes some kind of response from its readers, even if one considers it offensive. Some people need to be offended in order to get their attention, and pull their head out of the sand! The alternative is to remain willfully ignorant and thereby remain in the growing population of the morally and spiritually comatose! Wake the fuck up, people! Read the Declaration of Independence from beginning to end, and know what your unalienable rights are! And more importantly, know what your legal recourse is in the event those rights are violated, and the language is even stronger, words not mine. At times like these, according to the divinely inspired author, “but when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them to absolute despotism, IT IS THEIR RIGHT! IT IS THEIR DUTY to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.” Marianne is a trumpet! She is sounding the alarm before it is too late! I hope she continues to follow her own heart and March to the beat of her own drummer, and frankly, I don’t give a fuck who is offended by anything she says or does! Any more than I give a fuck about what I have said, and the harshness and intensity of my message! The alternative is to remain silent and silence is no longer an option for any of us! Be a part of the solution, and support those who are making a difference and causing an impact that benefits future generations!
I couldn't agree more. I supported Marianne for Prez... (not enough) but I will make another contribution now to help her keep on keeping on to get America (and the world) Back to Good. With love, gratitude and prayers...
Rock on! I am so grateful for your passion and intelligence and that you never quit telling the truth! I will definitely spend some time on the site you shared. Thank you.
Spot on and terrifying -- carves right at the weight of hopelessness that's a constant presence with me day in and day out, 24/7. PS...am just fine w/ your vocabulary, Sister Giant!
Who else is calling it neo-"liberalism"? That framing allows everyone on the right, or even center to dismiss it as though they aren't part of it. George Lakoff spells it out in his updated edition of "Don't Think of an Elephant." It is a really important book.
So well said Marianne, and I will share it out there. This is the world you write about, not just the US. Here in NZ we are suffering the same deal and so many are still asleep to what is under their very noses. But the struggle goes on daily to wake ppl up and gently, because this is huge and it has taken me all year to get my head around, but we will win, because Love conquers all and people, humans, have the power of that in our very essence. It is who we are and that's why ACIM and your daily meditations are so empowering, as is what you write politically. We have to change old paradigms and to do so means upheaval and unpleasantness, for a while. Then we can get on with cleaning up the mess and making our new earth vibrant, loving, fair and equal for us all who decide to remain here. I love the prospect that this time brings us all to really step up to being human beings in our glory. Blessed be.
As always, Marianne, I thank you for your perspective. Awareness is key, and you often provide it in these posts, and in your interviews of the people who are marching to the tune of the different drummer. Thank God for you!
With all due respect to Manuela...(and I mean that)...I instantly felt resonance with Marianne’s usage of the harsh words (and I’m not proud of that).
What is happening is an attempted coup of our government that is growing more threatening, exponentially by the second and the response has not been appropriate in measure at all.
I am freaked out that some of our so-called representatives have truly been identified as traitors and haven’t been handcuffed and detained in jail —instead remainIng in their office And plotting to undermine democracy—by tweeking our laws! IT’S BEYOND OUTRAGE.
I think Joe Biden is a good man but wtf?! And Merrick...(we all expected better). We deserve to be talked to. The lack of an acceptable game plan or expression of appropriate outrage... feels to me like terrorism.
We are supposed to be acting with the welfare of 7 generations into the future in mind and the Doomsday clock is at 100 seconds to midnite.
So it is time to turn back the clock. May our righteous indignation and duty to the future wellbeing of our planet and its inhabitants help us find the Loving way to do that in keeping with our beloved spiritual principles.
Thank you Marianne for not mincing words. I am going to meditate now with my beloved son to rise above the battleground and Pray for strength, wisdom and Miracles. 🧸
The "free market" worshipers cite Adam Smith's "Wealth of Nations" points about supply and demand to justify their cult belief that everybody being selfish somehow creates good of all. They IGNORE Adam Smith's points about the wealthy continually conspiring against the workers, organizing the wealthy to dictate the laws, while making it hard or even illegal for the workers to organize. We see this today in Amazon, Kellogs, and Blackrock doing their damndest to prevent workers from organizing. And the corporate media monopoly is a key servant of the financial control central. Here's an excellent recent discussion of this issue by Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti. "Alabama Miners SLAM Corporate Media Blackout Of Struggle"
What Adam Smith advocated was Mom and Pop capitalism. And it was a huge improvement over feudalism. However industrial capitalism and today's finance capitalism plus nonstate global capitalism have made Mom and Pop capitalism impossible, just as they have made sustenance farming in 3rd world countries impossible.
I would add that Adam Smith advocated non-monopoly capitalism, which would include mom and pop operations. Industrial age capitalism was marked by predatory monopolies. The current financial capitalism in America is what's left after the industrial sector was shipped overseas by the predatory financiers.
Marianne is correct as usual. "The Corporation" is a bullshit legal entity leveraged against us at every turn. We need a new o/s. I call it World 5.0 - built on Life and the totality of now, which requires that we are all here together in Life - always. Download the book, no email or sign in required... https://world5.org/book
thanx, I'll check it out asap. (have u seen the documentary "The Corporation"? i'll bet you have. And a negative nod to SCOTUS who made legal the idea that corporations are People and force all of society to acquiesce under this preposterous, Orwellian idea. Money is not speech either. This was just a way for BIG $$ to usurp We The People...for their personhood to "trump" ours....money is at least A root of the evil. We need money OUT of politics and SCOTUS needs to be called on the carpet for the crap it is shoveling on We the People whom even they are supposed to be serving. (wtf that they got away with letting it be ok for TX to offer to pay people (a lot of $$) to rat on those poor souls who are so desperate as to need to get an abortion?...paid vigilantiism. unbelievable that this is happening and Joe Biden (or however it needs to get done) must put a stop to it. I think we need to make it so that all states have the same election/voting laws. End gerrymandering, Electoral College, filibustering and I'm probably forgetting 20 more things. this is bullshit.
sad to say, but short of a miracle, I do not see this country changing direction in time to avoid a collapse of some sort. Whether that be economic, social, or political or a combo, it seems to me that the forces that are holding the reins(chains) have no desire to share much less to let go. My fear is that we will move deeper into a militaristic state. We have seen the ramping up the "serve and protect "folks. This is a juggernaut underway that short of divine/extraterrestial intervention will not stop itself. Hell, some of the cars many are buying are in part financing a move to another planet, by whom you might ask. The average wo/man? And, altho I don't want to derail this thread, it seems pretty suspicious that we are in the middle of a global health crisis that my money is on the belief is manmade. 80 or so years ago we developed atomic power and one of the first things we did with it was to figure how to kill others. I don't think we have progressed morally as a culture since and the biotechnology exists.
dear Marianne, I love your writing and not mincing words. However, I feel it is below your standards to use words like "f''' "How fucking dare they." Don't stoop to the level of vulgarity that seems to permeate much conversation! You are better than that!
You have a vast vocabulary, Marianne, I think we can all work to find words other than the over used "F" word that so many of the meme's and posts that I agree with I don't share because of that word that gets joined up in so many phrases that mean violence, and somewhat violent sex. Or, maybe that just my wacked mind.

Yes, Ms. Shawn, a lot of us are now recognizing our whole culture is bullshit. Which is why we require transformation...

I think you are missing the point. I agree with Marianne.
The f-word can be amazingly powerful if it is rarely used. I was shocked but not offended.
