"You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give." (Eleanor Roosevelt)

And so we now move forward. I pray simply for peace.

The Democratic Party is a disgrace. They appear to be, in the main, immoral war mongering, genocide supporting, donor-class owned, bought and paid for puppets. Nancy Pelosi, the Clintons, the Obamas ....their time and influence on the body politic in recent times has degraded democracy. Kamala Harris did not receive one primary vote, not one. Joe Biden has dementia, a fact glossed over by his handlers. The woke stuff is stupid and divisive; everyone is sick to the teeth of it. If you promote the idea that manhood/womanhood are interchangeable you haven't got the intellectual chops to govern a fruit stall never mind the biggest economy in the world. This is the reflection, this is the lesson - stop being snobs. Governance is earned, it is not an automatic entitlement because you went to Yale. Trump is not a classy guy, we get it, but neither is he a monster. He went into barber shops, diners, served fries in McDonalds, hopped on a garbage truck and gives every cent of his salary as President to the military veterans. He surrounded himself with smart people, ran a slick campaign and gives the impression of someone who has a job of work to do and will get to it from day one. Kamala Harris cannot string a sentence together and gives off the impression of being drunk. A dose of humility is what the Dems need and should learn from.

This is funny. Trump is a geriatric psychopath, bordering on dementia, (a fact glossed over by his handlers). What you call a 'slick campaign' was full of insults, lies, and hateful language, and he has millions of enablers, including you.

Hateful language. Does that include calling Trump Hitler and his supporters "garbage" and "deplorables"? I still have not gotten over that last one, I willingly admit.

Trump IS a monster, mobster, racist, rapist, convicted felon who just got his get out of jail card handed to him by russia and elon and jeff so they can keep more of their trillions of $$ and russia can take over ukraine. And you, like so many others who voted for him, are blinded by their bullshit.

No sorry you drank the koolaid…the left propaganda machine got you to believe he’s a monster. I too fell for it in 2016. Many of us now realize we were lied to

Trump is a rapist, a thief and a sick sociopathic loser. That is a FACT. Now, given that, you may still support him but AT LEAST be honest about who he is.

Expand full comment

He's not a loser. He has been elected President twice. A hardcore Dem supporter took a civil action against him in a stacked Dem court and claimed he raped her; a lot of people, including myself, found her narrative was not compelling. In fact, it sounded like horseshit and seemed politically motivated with no grounding in reality. Like many businessmen he is no stranger to sharp practice - as he will be dealing with men and women of power on the international stage who are intelligent and ruthless the fact he is not a choir boy is a plus. Kamala Harris may not be a moron, but she gives a very good impression of one. The people have spoken, accept the result and get on with your life.

He's a rapist and convicted felon. That is NOT debatable. You weren't lied to. You have decided to still support him in spite of that. And that is fine. That is your right as an American citizen. But be honest - don't lie - he's a liar and a cheat and a sociopath.

First, you might be looking at Trump through two pairs of rose-colored glasses. Second, you seem to think that the Democratic Party is still redeemable. Both are serious mistakes...

That is actually quite witty Anna. People are going to be mulling over this election for decades. I don't like Trump (I do like Vance) but I understand why people vote for him. Snobbery in all its guises - intellectual, fiscal, political - can blind people and Trump is easy to be sniffy about. The people have spoken, type to move onwards.

Dear Jon, yes, the Kremlin pay me every week to destabilize the USA by uploading posts on the internet. It's a great money spinner for me, there must be hundreds of thousands of us on the Kremlin payroll by now pointing out reality to those too blind to see. Putin has instructed us to target websites and threads that attract the self-righteous, self-regarding and those full of pompous indignation when others hold a different view than them. I am literally rolling in the roubles because as you probably are aware there are rich pickings to be had when it comes to that type of individual in the US. I call California Happy Hunting Ground because I've made a veritable fortune from targeting threads that originate there. Thank God it's Friday, I'll be getting a big bonus from Moscow because so many people were influenced by my internet posts that they decided to elect Donald Trump as President of the US. That's the sway I have Jon. It's my bigly talent.

Going to any shop is quite ordinary, McDonald's was to make fun of Kamala saying she worked there, the garbage truck was to try to 'fix' the stupid comic he allowed at his rally calling PR a pile of garbage & I'd like to see proof if where his salary went.

How idiotic

Expand full comment

Donna, going to a shop is not easy or ordinary when you are Donald Trump. Yes, the McDonald's and Garbage Truck were PR stunts gifted to them by Kamala and her surrogate, Joe. But you are not seeing the subliminal messaging which is showing solidarity with the common man and a willingness to indicate that he doesn't consider himself above getting his hands dirty. It also is humorous and is impactful across generations, genders, social class and people who do not speak English as their first language. You are unwilling to believe one good and easily provable thing about Trump which is that he donates ALL of his salary to military veterans. One definite fact about Trump is that he has been elected President of the United States and has plans that will make it better economically for the majority. Have you enough humility to accept the decision of the majority and give the guy a chance?

I appreciate your first hand experrience with undemocratic exclusion of your candidacy, and notice how much Matt Taibbi's revelations have inspired in you a renewal of first amendment rights. I'm a liberal for Trump after seeing the fraudulent Covid policies, and then seeing the legacy media turning into a state media after 2016. In the process of first campaigning for RFK, I gradiually realized how corrupt the Dems become. The propaganda of relentless negative messaging about Trump was stuck to me in many thick layers, and it took 3 years to gradually shed them by shutting out all legacy media, until I finally started to appreciate his strange but basic goodness, although egoistic. They hate him because he threatens the military industrial complex and global corporatism. Please keep checking out direct footage of Trump's public speeches and discover how much the media has fabricated this 'Hitler' mythology about Trump. He is not a racist, mor a dictator, will not act to shut down womens choice, and has a diverse team this time around to address our existential crises. Although he exaggerates a lot, and is sometimes coarse, he is not what you fear. The best neutral, intelligent independent media I've found to help me get clear on what's really happening include Racket News, Unherd.com, Epoch Times, and the Hill and Hill Rising. Thank you for running to inject the message of love into politics. I did the Course in Miracles i 2002, every day.

There has to be some consensus on what constitutes reality. Too many people on this thread are simply repeating lies put out by Drumpf and his oligarch allies, both U.S. and Russian.

All one needs to do is watch some of Drumpf’s mini-Nuremberg Rallies to see he is in fact a monster.

Marianne- thank you for your talk at Humanity Day last week.

We cannot blame any "them". We are all in this together. Our attacks on "them" solidify the archaic us/them dichotomy. We are humanity. It is our job to put attention on the peaceful and safe future that we all want, that all humanity wants. Our brains are designed to always blame "them" when we're scared. Together we can work towards a future we want--working as an Us.

Us/Them is a distinction the brain creates, and which our love and communication must dissolve, over and over and over.

Love, Peter

Well I'm not in the United States TG but I am feeling pretty devastated. What I don't understand is the scathing criticism toward Kamala Harris over the past several months. Petty, petty things - much by women - when her opponent is a long-standing bully and a felon. I could see the light in Kamala. I hope I will see it again. People couldn't step back and see the bigger picture. I won't concede until Kamala does, but it looks like we have a huge victory for the patriarchy as people would rather have a felon in charge than a woman. And I love you Marianne but you said absolutely nothing to support Harris to my ears. It's sad that women are so afraid to support women. And of course I'm not saying women should blindly support one another but my goodness. This has been disheartening.

In my opinion, women were totally ready to support another woman for President. It's just that this woman, Harris, was not the best choice. She was not even a choice, having been foisted on the country by the ruling party. I would willingly have supported Tulsi Gabbard, perhaps Nikki Haley, and I have been so pleasantly surprised by Nichole Shanahan, but the woman herself, if she aspires to the presidency, has to be smart, empathetic and resilient and strong. Harris was none of those things.

BRAVO! Fabulous analysis of how we got a second Trump term (plus Republican gains in congress)--and of the Democratic party narratives we can expect will be pushed through most media outlets.

To me, it's important to add that many perfectly non-illiterate, critical thinking Americans are finished with being told that they are evil and guilty for questioning elite-constructed narratives over the last ten years. Even if the left is 100% right about everything race, immigration, gender, and sexuality; there should be consequences against those who abrogated to themselves the power to decide the right think, and who then relentlessly attacked the character of any person less sure of their dogma, and who then (and this is the worst of it) began to practice censorship.

I perfectly understand how any American could feel that she had a choice between an idiot with authoritarian tendencies who would possibly be constrained by deeply leftist institutions&journalists VS a vacuous puppet who could be rolled into anything by the establishment behind her, and who had openly called for a greater institutionalization of censorship.

Never turn your back on Trump, but these elitist bubble-abiding Democrats can STICK IT.

You know - it was not just a few who are responsible for this Trump thing. The majority of Americans voted for him. We have to own that we are living among people who really see this guy as a good leader. I will never get it - but we cannot whitewash this election as "a few" people decided this. This is who America chose - hard pill to swallow. These are our friends, neighbors, family, colleagues.... and they chose this man. Big sigh. I agree that the DEM party handled this badly - but they have been doing this since they disallowed Bernie and went all in with Hillary. I became an Independent after that. My choice is to see this as a Universal plan - something necessary for our Awakening. Obviously way above my pay grade - but I am here to hold love, bring love and be love through it all. Peace my friends.

Too soon, too soon Marianne. Before we have the energy to take up the fight to right the wrongs of our political institutions many of us need time to heal, to grieve, to forgive, to find hope. Thank you for your analysis. As non-Americans we don't understand how a convicted felon, racist, misogynist, rapist, psychopath, geriatric wannabe dictator can even run for president in your country. Is this really the best person for the job America has to offer? And how can so many Americans be so blinded and bedazzled by this caricature of a candidate that they voted for him? Or have his henchmen orchestrated a massive election fraud? This is a sad day for America and the world. A traumatic election (night) indeed.

Jeez, as non American how the majority of a nation, even one as young and naive as America that has only recently got rid of segregation and thinks war games are an adult way to live, could vote in majority for someone as horrible, vengeful and unpleasant at Trump is worrying. The fears of authoritarianism among left-leaning Americans are very real, and in many ways legitimate. We will need to mount a powerful, loyal opposition to any efforts by the President-elect and his administration to transgress the norms and rules of a democratic society.

Thanks, Marianne, for your concise analysis of what must now be done. Namely, we will need to mount a powerful, loyal opposition to any efforts by the President-elect and his administration to transgress the norms and rules of a democratic society.
