This is my least favorite metaphor - and Marianne uses it consistently. I wish she could find another way to make her point. Her metaphor about cancer is medically inaccurate. But more than that, it is insensitive to people who have cancer. It draws a parallel to what is going on with cells in their bodies to deadly social selfishness. I am sure many fans of Marianne will defend the metaphor and tell me that it is only my problem and that they are inspired by the cancer metaphor. I know there is a better way to make her point that does not alienate some cancer patients/ survivors.
I am a big MW fan too! (35+ years)
Marianne is a brilliant speaker/ writer and she has brilliant mind. The cancer metaphor could simply be dropped altogether and she can just directly state her message.
I have brought this awareness to Marianne’s attention when she gave live talks in NYC. And in previous comments when it has been used here.
Sadly, I have friends who have completely rejected Marianne’s wonderful teaching and insights because of this cancer metaphor. When I recommend MW’s teaching to people I know who have/had cancer, I inform them of this possible objection.
There are many other teachers of ACIM and eventually the course speaks for itself if you can hang in there long enough. 💚

Today my body is filled with light.
I have a body of flesh, and a body of light - a body of my mortal self, and a body of my eternal Self. Today I feel my body brilliant, created by God, and the home of my true being.
Every cell is filled with light. Neither disease nor compulsion can penetrate the shield of God‘s blessing upon me. My holiness is the key to both my mental and my physical health. I am lifted above the body of my sorrows and delivered to my body of joy.
My body is a gift, enabling me to ground my spiritual journey within the illusion of time and space. It is neither my ultimate reality nor my true identity. I use the body as it was meant to be used – as a vessel through which to express my love.
I protect my body from the assaults of modernity – from thoughts of chaos to the contaminants of the physical environment. I do so by infusing my body with the light of the divine, seeing with my inner eye the spirit of God as it pours into my every cell.
This helps me so. Today is my birthday and the gift of sacred and creative collaboration with God friends family and strangers I have enjoyed.
