Instead of anger, I choose love today.Â
My anger is a tantrum of my frightened self, like a child in need of love. Yet only I can provide that love. I cannot expect anyone else to see the pain behind my anger. It is my responsibility to soften my behavior.Â
Indulging my anger is an act of self sabotage, as it pushes away the very love I need. Today, if I am tempted to anger, I will pray for a miracle to set me free. I am committed to love as the way to heal whatever it is that is throwing me off course.
Dear God,
Please take away my anger,
For it is not an expression of my true self.
Show me the love
That lies beyond it,
And help me show it to others.
Amen.
Instead of anger, I choose love today.Â
May we all understand that anger is a secondary emotion to trauma. May we catch ourselves when we unconsciously allow the frightened person to respond with anything other than love. May we not judge and instead listen with a compassionate ear and a loving heart when someone displays anger that is not intended for us. May we help those people to heal by responding with love.
What has happened to the listening part of these meditations? They were there at the beginning and actually was the reason I signed up monthly.
