I cannot agree with the praise heaped on Queen Elizabeth. I am black man who was born in Barbados. As as a lived experienced we have seen these English come to our country and act like the country is theirs. They try to stop us even using our own beaches. The Queen has done nothing in her reign to alleviate the unequal wealth in the country. She and her descendants and most white folks have benefited from the colonization of several Caribbean countries. They have gotten very rich from the slave trade and the sugar cane industry while our folks have to struggle to improve conditions in our living conditions. She has never at anytime offered an apology for the brutal and savage treatment that was thrust upon citizens of the Caribbean. Why should any black person with the knowledge of what occurred at the hand of the Queen and her descendants want to heaped praise on Her. One wonders when folks have not lived the experience, it is easy to do this kind of thing. Marianne Williamson is a person that I listened to earnestly but in this praising of Queen Elizabeth, she failed to mention the atrocities of the Queen and her folks. I am sure that she has her reason for this, but I would say that she has not had the LIVED Experience, so it may be okay for her to ignore these atrocities and pretend that they never happened. I will heap praise on my Grandmothers, Rose and Emily, my aunts and sisters and cousins, but I cannot in good faith to myself see any reason to be heaping praise on Queen Elizabeth whether she is alive or dead. This is the situation in life,we all have the best version of circumstances especially when the indignities did not happen to us. I am expecting the supporters of the Queen to see any relevance in my views here, and that is okay. I am a black man and I am living the experience. I will try the best to live the best life that I can, Queen or no Queen.

I hear you, and I don't minimize the brutality of the British colonial empire. I just don't see where Elizabeth could have done anything about it, given that hers was a constitutional monarchy and she had no political power whatsoever. Still, I do understand what you're saying. Thank you for saying it.

Well Marianne, She was in power or on the throne for 75 years. When did she ever said a word about the abusive practices still going on in the world as a result of slavery? Speaking up about atrocities only takes a bit of conscience if that is where a person is. There is no excuse for this kind of thing. I am not upset with the folks who see this as okay. They have not lived the experience and possibly do not care about them and that is okay for them. But it is certainly not okay with blacks like myself who still experience some of this crap on a daily basis. But thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.

Hi Jim, I am a black man and a pursuer of black liberation, yet im in agreement with Marianne. Reason one, funerals are the time for breathing, reflections, a time of stepping back. Number two- Mrianne spent half the essay on our, your points. If you read it she eloquently wrote about the passing of the old way and the ushering of a new way. Details how Charles visited a former colony and the colony bestowing him with freindship. Thus as a new King signaling the way forward for the former Empire. My brother, Marianne has the right to point out the virtues of her sister the Queen. The feminine has also been oppressed and the Queen was girl power. As the west mourns and puts to rest the old way, (literally) I think we do ourselves a deserves to present our grievences. India, Germany,South Africa are examples how forgivness and letting go blesses future generations.

The Queen was a kind of mother to millions and they have a right to shed a tear without us feeling betrayed or disturbed.

Hello BrilliantlightG, where in the article did Marianne speak about the atrocities of slavery and the millions that the Queen and her cohorts took from these colonies? I have no issue with your position, but I am not going to pretend that the Queen was anyone that was great. She and her folks are not great in my eyes. In your eyes, good for you. How do you reflect on the millions of slaves that were killed while producing the riches of your Queen and her folks?

Oh good grief, you are not a slave, nor were your parents or grandparents. Barbados is free with no revolution.

Hello Lynn Duffy, good for you if your view is that we should all be thankful that we are not slaves, you must not have anyone that was black in your mist. Obviously you are someone that feels that slavery is fine and we should be glad millions died and now we are ok. Well, got news for you. You maybe ok, but folks like me are still reaping the crap that slavery has invented. It is quite clear that you are not in this position, so you have no stake in this situation. Your opinions means absolutely nothing to me. You obviously are a supporter of this kind of oppression of others and supports it,. So why would you have any other viewpoint that the one that you are espousing. Goof for you. I wish you well. As a reminder as we speak, there are still folks from England that would like to think that they own Barbados. They even think that they own our beaches and would prefer that us folks do not walk on our own beaches. I am sure that you are in agreement with this type of arrogance.

You are wrong. If i lived in the time of slavery, i like to think i would have been an abolishonist. I live in this time, all we have currently is our voice and our vote. What would you have us do to forgive our past? I think women got the right to vote after black men? May we vote together now, to save ourselvrs from corporate greed and propaganda. Marianne's message helps imho.

Totally agree, however, for those of us who live in the uk, two weeks of mourning is excessive and outdated by any stretch of the imagination. If the monarchy is to continue in this century it will have to be trimmed down and it’s colonial cruelty acknowledged

You so aptly describe my exact feelings and sentiments and naming it all as clearly as you do is very comforting to me. I’m very grateful to you as are so many others, I’m quite sure (said with a British flair)!

Thank you so much Marianne for acknowledging the life of Queen Elizabeth II.

I am not British and I would like to think that Queen Elizabeth belonged to the world. A shining light returns to God. Forever shining in the eternal holy instant. Thank you Queen Elizabeth II.

Thank you Phil, your kind response is very much appreciated by me. I am also progressing toward the place of transcending. A Course in Miracles is a groundbreaking study and I did consult it before I started listening to Marianne, but I also have my lived experience and this makes my experience unique in responding to praise being placed on the Queen of England. I have to now reconsider where I go from here with my own feeling and views going forward. But I sincerely thank you for taking the time to share your view in quoting A Course in Miracles. Thanking you again and peace profound.

Jim, do you know what you have just done? You have illustrated to anyone who reads ‘Transform,’ how the principles of A Course in Miracles work. You read my comment with an open mind and responded with an open mind; and you wrote a comment that came from your ‘Real Self.’ In so doing you gave God ‘ascendance in your mind’ and transcended the ego! (Miracles Text C17.IV.16:2) You returned your mind to its Source and that is how the separation is healed. That is the way to transcend. Thank you so much! (You might enjoy reading Miracles Lessons 255 to 258 and 79 and 80 and all the others, plus the Text. Even if you have done them all before. I'm about to embark on my 9th time) 😊😊😊

What a wonderful tribute to a model monarch! While I am Canadian, I am not a staunch monarchist; notwithstanding, I could not help but have admiration for the woman.
