I have enjoyed all of the segments so far in TRANSFORM - but this particular one really struck me. I love the title "In the Age of the Worldly Mystic". I love that the segment's go back and forth between the reality of the world we live in and the powers of our spiritual practice. It is like a dance, and it provides the balance we need to be able to see the whole picture. I like this line in your article today: "I hadn’t yet realized that the only way to be truly happy is to achieve a state of consciousness that hovers above the suffering of the world, not in denial of that suffering but as a method of transforming it". Is this like that saying to 'be in the world but not of it' ? Or when you say 'You can't see the forest for the trees'. When you rise above, you see are able to see the whole situation - you can see the forest for the trees. I am also really enjoying the ACIM references here very much - those words are timeless and powerful. Thank you 🙏❤

"...it is possible to remain very much awake to the suffering of the world and to seek happiness at the same time." Thank you. I needed this today. I clearly need to strike a better balance if I'm ever to become "useful" in this great transformation.

Marianne, your essay is magnificent; yet, what is contained herein requires lots of practice to reach happy peace. It's so easy to slip; thus, I relish your idea to waking up each morning and praying that "all beings be happy today." Great approach that I will try tomorrow a.m. Thanks!

Marianne, thank you once again. As an activist who's begun to study A Course in Miracles what you say here about happiness--without turning away from suffering--and "positive denial" are really helpful to me.

I want to add something on the topic of both/and, not either/or--inner work *and* outer work--for readers who are here more for your political analysis and to whom ACIM principles don't really speak right now. When we neglect the inner work, t we are less effective in the world not only because we are less happy, but also because we are more reactive.

There are people who can and should be won over on this or that issue, but we can't understand and speak to their concerns if we're comfortable with the ego's habit of seeing them as idiots.

I've seen movements fall apart because we're so attached to having the answers that we think will give us control over how the future will unfold--and being right about our version of those answers--that we criticize each other and split endlessly.

Ordinary people most often get turned off by speakers who are all self-righteous anger and no love.

Groups fail when we follow leaders who are charismatic and seem to have all the answers but turn out to manifest serious, unhealed narcissistic wounding.

All these are manifestations of leaving our personalities--formed by a psychologically and spiritually sick culture--untouched by working on ourselves, at least psychologically, and ideally psycho-spiritually.

Again, thank you for bringing this up, and for the energy you must be putting into the ceaseless flow of these gems! ❤️🙏🏼

The past 5 days I found myself so down in others suffering...like having survivors guilt. This article is a great reminder that as mentioned: “True empathy does not mean that to join in suffering” Acim. Your articles and life work has always been a guiding light for so many, including myself and I thank you so much for your courage.

“We’re living in the Age of the Worldly Mystic” thank you Marianne for acknowledging the Truth🕊Far too often Mysticism is countered with a lot of cynicism. Yet, as you know Us Miracle~Workers😇We see Innoncence! I Am not in denial, I Am in the Vertical Plane🙏🏻going Within🌀to do as you state:

“Course in Miracles says “miracles arise from conviction.” When we are convicted that only love is real, we gain the miraculous authority of love to cast lovelessness from the world. We become people capable of moving the needle within the realm of lovelessness and illusion. We become miracle-workers. We become transformers. In the presence of human beings awakened to the power of love, and committed to being used on its behalf, fear will be erased. And ultimately tears shall be no more.”

I Am with you and All Beings🕊thank you for this Blessed✨✨✨Writing & Prayer🕯there is no Separation🕊and I Am that Mystic🦄Incarnate at a Most Auspicious☮️Time…please keep on keeping on! I/We need your Teachings and Guidance❤️💚💛LOVE💜💙🧡and Support as the Opposition is great…
