Wonderful and informative talk. I heard you speak in Charleston a few weeks ago Marianne, and you briefly mentioned that there are some things that need to be said but it must come from ones who are healed. This fills in the gaps. Thank you Marianne. Your spark is back and your Light shines forth as always.
On the contrary, he is SAVING Israel AND the West right now from the spread of radical Islam (Hezbollah is also involved with sex trafficking and drug trade). Netanyahu has become a MODEL for strong leadership -something sorely lacking in Western leaders right now who keep trying to appease terrorists!
Mario, this page is not a public platform; it's my writer's room.
I welcome respectful criticism, as well as conflicting opinions. But I do not welcome hatred and the propaganda that goes with it.
To those of you who say about anti-Semitic comments, "It's not anti-Semitic!", I say this: just as white people don't get to tell a Black person what is and what is not racist, a non-Jew does not have the right to tell Jews what is and what is not anti-Semitic. I'm definitely on the record as opposing Netanyahu's policies - as I have been for years - but I also know when something crosses the line into bigotry, racism, and plain old anti-Semitic Jew hatred. Particularly when it's masquerading as a concern for social justice, if I see it I will remove the comment.
You are wrong. In fact, so wrong that my guess would be everyone -- yourself included -- understands that...
But first, credit where credit's due. Before you chose to go on this censoring spree -- to add irony to injury, in the comment section of something entitled "How Censorship is Rewriting America's Future" -- there was one good thing that could be unequivocally said about this Substack -- it thoroughly and consistently upheld freedom of speech. I hardly posted any criticism-free comments here over the period of 18 months -- although, hopefully, all those criticisms were fairly well-argued and overall constructive. None of them, however harsh they might have been, were ever censored in any way or "removed". I think I saw a few Mr. Leblanc's comments disappear on a couple of occasions. But our beautiful Mario tends to confine himself to wholesale copying and pasting someone else's stuff. Which -- even if well intentioned -- can be legitimately seen as spamming. So Mario might just want to consider investing a bit more effort in his contributions. That said, I'd appreciate if you helped me understand what was wrong with other comments that were posted here. We'll get back to them in a sec. But before that, let's have a look at your other points.
"This page is not a public platform; it's my writer's room."
Technically -- yes. Essentially -- I'm not sure if this claim makes lots of sense. Mario, myself, or pretty much anyone here could try to make this case. Because we are not public figures. But you are. Moreover, not only are you a public figure, you just spent a year and a half running for the highest office in the land. Throughout this whole period, you used your Substack to lay out your policies. To share updates about your campaign. To talk about your strategy (or lack thereof). After the campaign was over, you have repeatedly stated that it's just the beginning of something bigger. So...what can be more public than that?
"A non-Jew does not have the right to tell Jews what is and what is not anti-Semitic."
OK. So are you in all seriousness suggesting that if someone like Netanyahu, who would have found himself in the modern incarnation of Nuremberg a long time ago if it wasn't for the cover given to him by the American establishment and paid for by the American taxpayer, claims that something is anti-Semitic -- and literally any criticism of Israel or himself would certainly be in his book -- it should be instantly and without question accepted by anyone who is not Jewish? Simply because they are not Jewish and he is? I mean...really? I'm sorry but l do not think that it even merits a serious response...
Let's get back to the comments in question. I got to read them before they were removed. I file all my comments for future reference, but I won't be able to quote someone else's words verbatim. However, one of them read very close to this: "No one hates Israel (maybe it was "Jewish people"). We just don't want to see genocide unfolding in front of our eyes". Now, I'm really struggling to understand what part of that utterance you find objectionable. What part is not true? What part is morally wrong? For comparison, let me offer several quotes from Chrs Hedges' writings over the past months:
"All settler colonial projects, including Israel, reach a point when they embrace wholesale slaughter and genocide to eradicate a native population that refuses to capitulate."
"The genocide in Gaza is the final stage of a process begun by Israel decades ago. Anyone who did not see this coming blinded themselves to the character and ultimate goals of the apartheid state."
"There has always been a strain of Jewish fascism within the Zionist project... Now it has taken control of the Israeli state... These Jewish fanatics have begun their version of the final solution to the Palestinian problem."
And the final most recent one directly related to the subject:
"Israel’s genocide includes the most draconian censorship and intentional murder of journalists since the creation of the modern war correspondent. The consequences will be catastrophic."
So? Are these statements also simply all about "bigotry, racism, and plain old Jew hatred"? Are they just "propaganda masquerading as a concern for social justice"? Are you going to pronounce Chris Hedges anti-Semitic? Would you remove his comments? And, most importantly, what do you REALLY think? Or maybe the last question has already been rendered rhetorical by your "liking" the comment from someone who in another one exalts the corrupt psychopathic war criminal...
Anti-semites not welcome here. Period. You can criticize Israel all you want, if it's fair. I do too. For a year and a half I offered an alternative to U.S. policy in this area, so it's not like I haven't spoken out. You might not know - but I assure you, the Iranian sponsors of such propaganda as I have seen on this thread do know - the exact notes you're hitting to make a Jew know code when we hear it. As far as what I "really" think: https://marianne2024.com/israel-and-palestine/
I am not anti-semite Marianne. I have a lot of Jewish friends. I have been to Israel before. In fact, the picture that you see here, the only one of me that I have ever posted on social media, was taken in Jerusalem.
OMG, there is NO GENOCIDE IN GAZA. That is an ABSOLUTE blood libel, once again, directed against Israel. The corrupt UN, the mainstream media, AND the Islamic Republic of Iran are ALL complicit in this propagandist blood libel! I could present so many facts showing this (such as the many pieces written by John Spencer, head of urban warfare at West Point, or the interviews with the brilliant British journalist Douglas Murray or the pieces by Colonel Richard Kemp - all showing that NO OTHER ARMY in the world has taken the precautions that the IDF has taken to AVOID civilian casualties which are the LOWEST in the world when it comes to THIS kind of guerrilla warfare where the enemy (Hamas) uses their OWN people as human shields and where every other building had an entrance to an underground tunnel - the ENTIRE Gaza strip was a vast underground terrorist network using BILLIONS of global money (including our own). Thank GOD Marianne is removing these blatant anti-Israel, Jew-hating posts that are RAMPANT throughout social media and extremely dangerous.
Look how the whole world is focused on Gaza when Muslim-on-Muslim violence throughout the Middle East (such as Syria where hundreds of thousands of civilians have been killed, Yemen where MILLIONS are at risk of starvation) and Muslim-on-Christian violence (Sudan) gets NO PRESS- NO 'anti-Syria' protestors running around calling for an 'intifada' against Syrians, no anti-Yemen protestors, etc. ONLY Israel, which is fighting an existential war for its very survival against Radical Islamists, triggers worldwide condemnation- why? because NO JEWS, NO NEWS!
Are they anti-semites those refuseniks? And what about you when you were against the Vietnam War. Where you anti american?
Please watch Colonel (Res.) Joel Piterberg's comment - IDF Helicopter Pilot at 7:15 and other comments. He is comparing Gaza with Warsaw Ghetto in WW2.
Refuseniks and Israeli Soldiers speak out 10:30 min
Thank you for addressing this man's comments. I have been wondering when you might notice how far off topic and unmannerly he can become.
I don't want to dislike him, but recently I find myself avoiding his comments bc I find them to be unselltling, sometimes untrue and sometimes irrational. In my opinion.
Thank you for setting healthy boundaries on destructive speech on your page.
All bullshit anti-Israel, Jew hating propaganda. I have learned not to even engage with people like you, Mario. There are thousands like you on social media. Meanwhile, tiny Israel is all alone fighting a war against radical Islam on all fronts, all fuelled by the Islamic Republic of Iran. And Qatar has spent BILLIONS FOR DECADES funding our American universities to brainwash our youth who now support terrorists! The world has gone mad and the West is asleep to the danger.
You have absolutely NO IDEA what you are talking about. There is NO ethnic cleansing going on in Gaza- the IDF has done more than ANY OTHER ARMY in the world to avoid civilian casualties. If you were not so brainwashed by mainstream media, you would know that.
Agreed no party has clean hands. But sincerely the censorship and media take over is scandalously all the DNC. The amount of air time Bobby Jr. was awarded during his independent run was atrocious. It is a clear signal that independent thinkers are flocking towards the "republicans". What do you have to say of these dems who have moved over to team Trump while Kamala continues with her diatribes and the Obamas continue their racist pleas to black men to "vote black". Just let the republican party have this moment of transformation while the corruption of the DNC can lay itself down.
I like Bobby. I consider him a friend. But while I agree with much of what he says about food, etc (just as I said in my own campaign), I cannot in good conscience make the move to Donald Trump. While Bobby would do some good things if allowed to under a Trump administration, I do not see it as a "moment of transformation" for the Republicans as a whole.
I hear you, I have a lot of family in the US. It's just instrumental for me to see so many ex Dems move "right" even though it's centre seeming to me. I wish everyone peace during the next four years and hope people can stop thinking about this and find freedom and health in their lives (despite Trump - who the left used to love as you are probably aware). Canada is worse, maybe move here and run.
It’s true that neither party have clean hands, materialism and greed is pervasive. The divisiveness of the news media is outright propaganda. These are times of great change. Astrologically we’ve not been at this place since the revolution and founding of our country. And the cyclical history repeats or rhymes on schedule.
For ever, the majority of all registered voters in the US are UNAFFILIATED with any party! Fifty years ago, government took over education in this country and STOPPED teaching people civics and how to think. I don't know why the PTOs didn't protest. Distraction is a plague.
Censorship AND SURVEILLANCE by both government AND corporate entities is the most important issue to everyone at this time, I am convinced. So glad to see this interview.
And what was evinced here is just the tip of the iceberg... Scary!

“It's like, ‘We believe in democracy. You can vote for anyone as long as it's me.’”
“I think the challenge is that we are evolutionarily designed to retain the approval of our group.”
Thrilled to see this match-up. Two great humans that need to have more shared, long-form conversations. Glad you're introducing Matt to more of your readers, Marianne!

I can no longer support a Democratic Party that is attempting to destroy the first amendment and have become the party of war for profit. Neo cons backing the dems is the final straw to these revelations.

Most of my online comments for mainstream news segments are subversive. I haven't said much about Kamala Harris, though, until lately. First it was waiting to get through the "rah, rah, joy" phase. Then it was seeing reams of unconditional, blind support in comments, ironically just like Trumpsters, so that didn't seem like a good time. The only speech she's made that I've listened to in its entirety is the convention speech. Since then, on the few occcasions that I have clicked on something, I've found myself quitting within the first five minutes or so, and what I clicked on today was no different.
Harris spoke in Philadelphia, and the only reason I clicked on the MSNBC clip is because a browsing feature showed that she was talking about God. She sounded preacher-like, and got high praise in the comments. Within the first few minutes, someone in the crowd said something subversive, which was not audible, and she spent a few minutes on that, the atmosphere being that she was the "right" one and the subversive person was the "wrong" one. That was enough for me, and I posted the following:
"If 'every voice is important,' as was repeated a number of times, why was that voice censored? I'll assume it was about Palestine. Actually, everything I hear from Harris is through a Palestine filter, so the hypocrisy is difficult to take, including her refusal to allow any Palestinian American to have a voice at the 'joy' convention.
But since Harris is talking about God, this line from an old tv show I watched a few weeks ago is appropriate and hasn't left me. A terrorist being interrogated admitted to certain crimes, but not all, when he added: 'There is no greater insult to God than to kill one of his babies.' The Biden/Harris administration has a lot to answer for."
Harris needs to win, but I feel no enthusiasm about it at all. I don't know how much of a factor the genocide is, because mainstream ignores it, ignores the uncommitted category, only talks about the so-called undecided, and makes everything about Trump. Non-mainstream sources tell a different story, and it's very possible that the genocide may be a bigger factor in the election than Harris is willing to acknowledge. So because she needs to wake the hell up and win...is the Republican/Cheney lovefest still going on?...I've posted twice in the last few days, "I don't know how more right-wing one can be than to fund and arm a genocide."
"So because she needs to wake the hell up and win...is the Republican/Cheney lovefest still going on?"
First, it's kinda hard to wake up from what you actually are. There is no essential difference between neolibs and neocons. Second, it looks like this IS their "winning" strategy. They realise that certain factions of the electorate are hopelessly lost for them -- as far as this election goes, at any rate. Because there is only so much you can say to people who are directly related to someone who you actively "fund and arm a genocide" against. So, unlike 2016 when they were trying to implement the same approach in more subtle ways, the mask is off completely this time around. The DNC openly exclude Muslim representatives from their events. And goes for the "suburban normies". Since the latter tend to really show up during the election season and have a relatively significant number of undecideds, the Dems hope to compensate there for their losses among Arab voters. Hence that -- yes, ongoing -- "lovefest" not as a random blunder but as a deliberate manoeuvre. Which is not very likely to work out, though...
It's not Harris' intrinsic self I was thinking of, but much more her basic political ambitions. She wants to win. What she has the power to say is all that the uncommitted voters need to hear, that an arms embargo will be applied to Israel. Presidents have done it before. And relatively few, uncommitted or not, seem to put much stock in Biden's ever-moving and latest "red line". Also, his "legacy" is toast, this genocide will be it, so Harris could perhaps do something about that, as well.
[I posted this as a reply to American Zoetroper, but it appears as a reply to myself.]
As a political figure, Harris doesn't have any "intrinsic self". She's a hologram. A vessel for the neoliberal agenda. As for her ambitions, Harris is not Trump. She will be playing by the rules. Always. She will never step outside the boundaries one inch. Such an embargo -- or even mentioning the option of it -- would be far beyond the current set of those, wouldn't it?
Wonderful and informative talk. Of course, but I do not recognize the Democratic party anymore
After 60 years, I have left this party that has become such a big part of the problem of destroying democracy.
For ever, the majority of all registered voters in the US are UNAFFILIATED with any party! Fifty years ago, government took over education in this country and STOPPED teaching people civics and how to think. I don't know why the PTOs didn't protest. Distraction is a plague.

Thrilled to see this match-up. Two great humans that need to have more shared, long-form conversations. Glad you're introducing Matt to more of your readers, Marianne!
Best idea of the conversation was to get the big money out of politics, or at least out of campaigns..to think that we were deprived of candidates like Marianne and RFK is unbearable.
There have been many revelations lately. My politics have changed drastically in just a few months. I can no longer support a Democratic Party that is attempting to destroy the first amendment and have become the party of war for profit. I wish Marianne was still in the race as an independent...
It was a great conversation: in depth, articulate, thought provoking, and intelligent. Thank you, Marianne.
‼️Big Fan of Matt, Racket News and ATW w Walter Kirn ‼️
Very dangerous. And the West is asleep at the wheel.
Epic conversation between two legends!
If government was less centralized and the taxes that fund it were retained more at local levels we would move closer to real democracy. We have outsourced our responsibility for governance to the federal government. How many of us attend our local town board meeting?
This dilemma is not a morality issue - it is a complete lack of critical thinking by the public.
Firstly - people are busy. It is much easier to NOT to be a critical thinker.
Also - People do not want to realize that they are being manipulated , even by an effective reality TV star.
Lastly - People want to believe, not question their so-called news media, even if it is now owned
by profit-motivated corporations.
YES - Get the BIG money OUT of politics!
People are depending on their media consumption to program their thought process. Why do you think they call it tell a vision programming?
