The Battle for Kyiv
My interview with Oleksandr Lutsaievskyi, speaking live to me from Kyiv
What a day this has been, and what a night it must now be in Kyiv, Ukraine. Most people can’t even imagine the experience.
Regardless of the circumstances that led to the invasion of Ukraine, there is no moral or legal justification for Putin’s ruthless action. In cities throughout Russia as well as around the world, people are marching in protest. The Russian and Ukrainian people are deeply connected, and all indications are that Putin found resistance to his plans for a full on invasion even among his military advisors.
I’ve read extensively on America’s involvement in Ukraine, and a case can be made that our own actions exacerbated this situation. It’s also true, of course, that Americans aren’t exactly innocent when it comes to invading other countries. But to me, those things are ultimately irrelevant to the humanitarian horror unfolding in the Ukraine right now. Millions of innocent people are in trouble, and they need our help.
I spoke an hour ago to Canadian-Ukrainian Oleksandr Lutsaievskyi, who is in Kyiv tonight. Dear God, please bless and protect Ukraine.
Praying for healing of hearts and minds and a speedy end to this attack
