From extreme hurricanes to out of control fires to tragic evacuations to terrorist attacks to a persistent pandemic to neo-fascists among us to rising homelessness to political corruption to teenagers at risk to cruel evictions to various other signs of a system discombobulating, anyone not feeling a bit off today is either meditating regularly or artificially calmed.
Marianne, your deeply heartfelt message captures the essence of our times. It prompted me to to recall what dear Audrey Hepburn once said: "“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others. For beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness. And for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”

After reading your article still some questions and remarks remain in my heart and mind:
What do you mean by "a civilization"? Who do you mean by "we"? Do you put all civilizations in one pot? Please honor those (cultures/ civilizations) who are not eaten up yet by our dominant western, capitalistic mind set and are truly engaged in protecting our planet and life from a point of compassion and love.
The example at the end saying that "The Israelites made it to the Promised Land and so will we" does not evoke hope, but even more despair in me. By just writing that one sentence without including the historical reasons and interests that led to the foundation of Israel, and how the government of Israel and its western allies are acting since then towards the land itself and its people, appears too banal, one sided and provocative towards those that suffer under these circumstances. Please give more context in order to really see and understand what you mean by your statement.
I'm in tears. I was just journaling about all of this. I feel a grief that goes beyond. So much loss. It is clear that "we" don't really care about "each other" or about "our earth home." It is so sad to watch all the devastation. It seems so hopeless. My own life even seems to be at a dead end, not sure how to move forward, so weighted down by grief and loss. And then I look out the window and watch all the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks playing under the tree in the sunshine. Totally in their own bliss. Nature is Love, it seems to just know peace and their higher order of things, it just keeps going on and on. Nature is the only thing that helps me these days, gives me any kind of higher perspective, while our human world collapses. I pray we can "midwife" a new Loving World someday. Love & Light to all.
That was an awesome write up Marianne and beautiful from chief Warren Lyons. Exactly what we talk about thats going to and is happening in the world right now. So much knowledge already known by Native Americans. Peace love Hope..

I also like how ROM-DOS [what does it tell us when our dictation software interprets “Ram Dass” that way? 😉], coming from a different spiritual tradition put it: our inner work opens our hearts, and as we take in the suffering in the world, we are moved to act to relieve it. And, as we work in the world, our activity places in front of our faces the ways our egos are still intact and thus guides us as to where we need to focus our inner work.
I love the way the video at the end by Chief Oren Lyons conveys the same message as ACIM: truth is truth and love is love. Here’s a link to a talk by the poet and Native activist John Trudell which talks at length about the “tech-‘no-logic’ civilization” we will have to overcome. The task may seem daunting but together—if we remember who we are—we have everything we need to succeed.
