Hey guys,
On September 26-28, 2024, Hurricane Helene ripped through parts of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
Most of us can’t imagine the fear and devastation that such an experience brings with it. And the horror lasts long after the winds have died down. While the media covers such catastrophes and then move on, the people who experience them are living with the consequences for months and even years. Western North Carolina, particularly the city of Asheville, has been damaged in ways that have tragically affected their community.
But we can help! Please join us for a Virtual Fundraiser AFTER THE STORM, Tuesday, November 12 4pm PT/7pm ET. I will be joined by several residents who'll testify not only to the trauma of Hurricane Helene, but also to the miracles that emerge as people support one another in its aftermath.
Let’s be one of those miracles. Registration is free, but I’ll be asking you throughout the evening to give what you can to a non-profit organization called Beloved Asheville.
Let’s do for others what we would wish, should we be in such a situation, that others would do for us.
To give you an idea of the devastation, here’s my conversation with Amy Pamensky, who along with her partner experienced the worst hours of Hurricane Helene in Asheville:
Thanks so much. I look forward to seeing you there…
Marianne
How great to see this in my inbox. I opened it thinking it was referring to the storm of Trump winning the election but no. It’s about reaching out and helping others. Not staying in the whining game, as comfortable at times as that may feel when something important to us hasn’t gone our way.
You are a true role model and this email, for this individual has lifted me up from my “what's the point” mindset to one of gratitude, knowing there are people like you in this world.
Thank you Marianne ☺️👏🏼💪🏻🙏✨💕
On Sunday, Nov 3rd in Huntsville, Alabama, a benefit concert was held at The Stovehouse for this very reason. I curated the groups, booked the venue, advertised the event, solicited donations from the community and joined a large group of like minded guests in support of The American Red Cross relief efforts to those affected in North Carolina by Hurricane Helene. It was an amazing night of giving. So many came out and contributed. The local news picked up on the event and broadcast a feature story about this effort. Compassion for all others is the reason. Please consider your opportunity to do the same, every day, everywhere in any way possible.
