I'm on board with your principles when it comes to political prisoners but I'm not on board with your perception of Julian Assange. I honestly believe he's a cyber criminal.

Steven Donziger's imprisonment seems like another matter to me.

I might agree with you there...

I am much enamored of your writing in general, and I have great personal respect for you. I also believe it's important for you and your readers to see that a person can hold good thoughts and feelings for you and still not be on board with *everything* you write.

Wonderful coverage of a VERY essential issue for not only Americans, but the world. We hold America as the standard for democracy. This cannot go unchallenged.

Thank you for being on the panel in the show for Steven Donziger. There was great power in the consensus of you four intelligent, articulate women talking honestly and knowledgeably about the real issues of our time. I saw it as a potential inflection point in our national discourse. I was so moved by the hope I felt, that when you gave your positive pitch near the end of Chris Hedges' segment, I couldn't hold back the tears. Thank you.

I also appreciated your clarifying Professor Wolfe's comments on capitalism and socialism. You aligned them more clearly with common sense. It was a brilliantly organized series of presentations, each clear and articulate, telling a different facet of the overall story.

I'm seeing more and more voices in the independent media saying it's time to stand up against the predators who are enslaving our establishment media and politicians, and destroying our society morally and economically.

Julian Assange and Steven Donziger are the faces of heroism. They both took it upon themselves to take the most difficult necessary actions in order to expose sectors of the ruling class - fossil fuel and military - while paying the price of their lives for doing it. The pushback they are receiving is ugly, but this is what is needed if we are ever going to have accountability. Whatever is the benchmark for what a person should accomplish in their lifetime, these two have gone way above and beyond. We are so thankful for their courage.

I’m in, supporting both of these causes!

If it can happen to them, it can happen to anyone of us. Thank you, Marianne, for your excellent interviews with these two men and for shining a spotlight on the injustices being done to both of them.

The heading of this article is one of the subtle messages we can receive from people who leads by applying the right degree of death and destruction. In every area of society they will apply dishonesty, tear down goodwill, and feel the right to disrupt and corrupt any life. If you do not like their ways then we are considered too critical, wanting things to be perfect, and accusing people with no prove.

¨Julian Assange Loses Appeal: British High Court Accepts U.S. Request to Extradite Him for Trial

Press freedom groups have warned Assange's prosecution is a grave threat. The Biden DOJ ignored them, and today won a major victory toward permanently silencing the pioneering transparency activist.

Glenn Greenwald Dec 10

...Press freedom groups expressed indignation this morning over the U.K.'s ruling approving Assange's extradition. Rebecca Vincent, Director of International Campaigns and UK Bureau Director for the international press freedom group Reporters Without Borders, said: “This is an utterly shameful development that has alarming implications not only for Assange’s mental health, but also for journalism and press freedom around the world.” The organizational statement issued this morning from Reporters Without Borders went further:

We condemn today’s decision, which will prove historic for all the wrong reasons. We fully believe that Julian Assange has been targeted for his contributions to journalism, and we defend this case because of its dangerous implications for the future of journalism and press freedom around the world. It is time to put a stop to this more than decade-long persecution once and for all. It is time to free Assange.

The Freedom of the Press Foundation (on whose Board I sit) issued a statement this morning which described the ruling as “an alarming setback for press freedom in the United States and around the world.” The group's Executive Director, Trevor Timm, said that “these proceedings, and today's ruling, are a black mark on the history of press freedom,” adding: "That United States prosecutors continued to push for this outcome is a betrayal of the journalistic principles the Biden administration has taken credit for celebrating.”

It is difficult at this point to avoid the conclusion that Julian Assange is not only imprisoned for the crime of journalism which exposed serious crimes and lies by the west's most powerful security state agencies, but he is also a classic political prisoner...

That is why they and their liberal allies in corporate media harbor so much bloodlust to see Assange imprisoned. Julian Assange is a pioneer of modern journalism, a visionary who was the first to see that a major vulnerability of corrupt power centers in the digital age was mass data leaks that could expose their misconduct. Based on that prescient recognition, he created a technological and journalistic system to enable noble sources to safely blow the whistle on corrupt institutions by protecting their anonymity: a system now copied and implemented by major news organizations around the world...¨

More “crusading” to be done. And yet I think that word may be too harsh but it does seem to fit for these times too. Not surprising, that it is being led once again by a woman, named Marianne.
