Ten years ago, Occupy Wall Street startled the nation. People have a lot of different opinions of the movement — some say, “Yeah, but it didn’t really do anything” — but I think it did a lot. It brought a very important point into brilliant focus: that 1 per cent of our population own the overwhelming majority of our financial resources. That very idea, true as true can be, was introduced into mainstream American consciousness in a way that it had never been before.
Now, on the tenth anniversary of Occupy Wall Street, people are looking back, remembering where the country was, and who we as people were, at the time. Having been asked to speak about Occupy Wall Street first Los Angeles, and then in Oakland, I did so gladly.
The movement, however brief, ignited a fire in the hearts of many.
Here’s looking back…
14 different kinds of toothpaste but only two political parties … Corporations do not have the right to Personhood … A Corporation will always have money as the bottom line … and … only INFINITI PATIENCE gives immediate results … That was wonderful … Thank you for this!
That was inspiring. Thankyou for sharing that! wow! Money is important but its not our bottom line, for a ethical human being being a person of integrity, values, character, taking care of your children, having some humanitarian values is a bottom line. I love that. Would like to look at the principals of non violence.
