Dear Marianne,
My concerns during this holiday season are how best to approach civic matters in a spiritual way without sounding preachy or too egoic. I ask you simply because I am deeply alarmed about those who are listening to voices saying people don't need to be vaccinated, listening to voices saying we need more restrictive voting legislation in many states, and listening to voices saying our Climate Emergency isn't even a high priority! All my adult days, well, I have volunteered for just causes, and have contacted my local, state, and federal representatives as well as marched when it seemed relevant. But now I am wondering if any of this is helpful since an autocracy seems to be manifesting in the U.S. and has been for quite sometime--or our system of governance seems to be wavering between that of an oligarchy or fascism.
So Marianne, I look forward to your take on this matter from an ethical and spiritual perspective albeit I realize that's not fashionabe talk by most civic leaders these days but at least some, like you, try very, very hard!
