In the Hour of their Agony
Prayers for the victims of last night's tornadoes
Massive tornadoes have struck Illinois, Kentucky and five other states since yesterday. Six died when the roof of an Amazon warehouse collapsed in Illinois. In Kentucky alone over 100 people are reported killed, with more expected to be reported.
It's hard to imagine the level of pain, grief and horror among those affected by this tragedy. I'm sure hundreds if not thousands of heroes are on the ground there now, doing everything possible to help other people survive. At times like these, we're reminded of our common humanity and vulnerability before forces we cannot control.
For those who have been personally affected, my deepest condolences. To all of us, let's pray for miracles in the lives of those who are going through this...
Dear God,
We know that You know,
in ways we cannot,
the level of suffering that has resulted from these tornadoes.
Take the dead into Your tender hands, dear God,
and bring comfort to those who have loved them.
Heal the injured, bring comfort to the grieving,
and hope to the hopeless as they endure
this hour of their agony.
Direct us to ways we can serve, dear God,
that such horror shall occur no more.
And so it is.
Amen

Thank you, Marianne, and God bless you for being on the forefront during this “natural” disaster AND for proving us with links to where and how we can play a role in providing help during this terrible unfolding tragedy. Sending love, prayers and some monetary relief to this part of our country/world that needs healing so badly right now. 💕🙏💕🙏
(The reason I put the word “natural” in quotes is b/c can we deny that extreme weather events such as this across the country and around the world are the result of climate change? Where are the “powers that be” for not acting at this critical moment?)
Marianne, thanks for your prompt response on this sad weather event and link too! Your heart, as always, is on top of these matters with loving thoughts and encouragement. I am so glad for your voice and leadership that's making a positive alternative to the status quo! 👍🙏🤳👏
