Wow, I’m so old I remember the first Earth Day! I was in college in California, and it was all very Birkenstock, granola and hippie-ish. We wouldn’t have thought back then that it would turn into such a major thing.
But indeed it has, and for reasons that none of us are very happy about. Earth Day is still a celebration but it’s also become a global cry of despair. All of us are called to do what we can to end the violence against nature that is threatening to destroy the earth.
The success of the movie Don’t Look Up (322 million viewing hours!) has proven how much the world cares. This year for Earth Day, let all of us take our own next step in turning care into more significant action.
This Friday night, Transform’s paid subscribers are invited to participate in an interactive Substack Zoom with author Peter Kalmus, a climate scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab. Kalmus’ book Being the Change explores the connections between our individual daily actions and our collective predicament living on a threatened planet.
Kalmus also wrote about his recent efforts with a group of international climate scientists who staged global acts of civil disobedience, warning the world of the dangers of fossil fuel extraction: Climate Scientists are Desperate: We’re Crying, Begging and Getting Arrested
Watch the video below to see more about their efforts…
Join Peter and me on Friday night for a live discussion of what’s happening to our earth, and how each of us can help save it. Let’s celebrate, learn, and be active participants in the change.
