Everywhere I go we’re getting a positive reception, but our campaign needs money to expand our reach. Not enough people in this country even know yet that we exist…

And there are various forces trying to keep it that way. From both Biden and Kennedy refusing to debate me, to hit pieces that smear my personality and the work I have done for the last forty years, to a mainstream media blackout in obvious response to the DNC’s bidding, I feel like Ginger Rogers in relationship Fred Astaire - having to do everything he did, but backwards!

So fundraising is everything, to be honest. The Citizens United decision really did us in, allowing unlimited corporate money to influence our political campaigns. Until we pass a Constitutional amendment to establish public funding for federal campaigns, anyone with less cash on hand will have a hard time staying in the game.

But as far as fundraising gimmicks go, I kind of like this one! A Meal with Marianne! Donate $25, and we’ll randomly pick a winner next week. Whoever it is, we’ll get both of us to the same town and the same restaurant, to share a meal and enjoy a conversation.
